Airs on ABC December 25, 2014 at 9am/10am

ABC film crews will set up in Town Square and in front of the Sleeping Beauty’s Castle on November 8th. Access to the front and sides of the castle will be restricted. A stage will be set up in front of the castle for performers and taping of performances may take place both Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Some areas of Fantasyland to the back of the castle may be restricted during that time.

Fireworks will not be affected by the taping, with the exception of viewing close to the front of the castle will not be available. The Main Street Vehicles will not be operating. Disneyland Band performances will be very limited during the weekend.

The taping of the parade begins in the morning and can run for a few hours. It is not like a normal parade. There are many taping stops and retakes, moving units back and forth. Many people come in to see the parade taping and performances. If you wish to avoid crowds on Main Street, you can use the Disneyland Railroad to go around it.

We are currently at the park and asked about the parade taping. We got word that they are not doing any parade in disneyland because Disney World has a new, bigger parade. But they are doing a Frozen performance that will be aired on Christmas day.

  2. Oh no! That’s sad!!! We heard they cut the Disneyland taping down from 2 days to 1 day this year and eliminated taping at California Adventure to expand the taping time at Disney World. Lots more Frozen segments this year, so we’re assuming they’re including stuff from Disney’s Hollywood Studios instead where lots of Frozen activities have been going on since this summer.

Our family watches the parade on Christmas day every year!
This year we were disappointed that the format had changed and we saw very little of the parade itself. Yes, it’s nice to see some of the performers in several of the Disney Parks, but the parade is what we truly look forward to. For children, the chance to see many of their favorite Disney Characters come to life before them, is what they truly enjoy. While “Frozen” obviously was a hit this year, and the appearance of Elsa, Anna and Olaf were appreciated by everyone, they crowded out many of Disney’s favorite characters, which was a shame. Oh and by the way, What happened to Santa, the guest of honor? This years “parade”, or shall we say, “lack of a parade” was a great disappointment!
