The Magic Kingdom Crane is Back!

Almost a year ago, in February 2014, Disney announced some major changes coming to the Hub area near Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom. The expansion is adding larger viewing locations to accommodate more guests for fireworks and other entertainment, and also adding landscaping and gardens that are reminiscent of the European castles’ grounds.

Outdoor seating areas for the popular Main Street U.S.A. restaurants Casey’s Corner and The Plaza are also doubling in size. (FINALLY!)

When everything is all said and done, an extra “ring” of sidewalks and pathways will have been added, which should greatly reduce congestion in the area and allow for more guests to view the fireworks and parades from these prime locations.

Magic Kingdom enhancements will include a Special Viewing Area:

That’s the Partners Statue, which will be covered for about a month. There are no plans to change the statue itself, but heavy construction will be happening in the area and the box will protect the statue from damage.

Construction walls have been up near Casey’s Corner and The Plaza for some time, but this week walls were added all around the Hub, making the area difficult to get around and extremely unphotogenic.

In addition, the crane is up behind the castle through 2/21/15 to remove the holiday lights, so pathways near the castle have been blocked off.

The crane even has its own fb page:

We’ve written a book about our year working at Disney World in the Disney College Program: Two Girls and a Mouse Tale. It’s filled with advice about the DCP program and how to get the most out of your internship.

We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program (Fall 2013/Spring 2014) and wrote about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.

We give advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship at Disney, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney.

Available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.

I feel bad for people who their once-in-a-lifetime trip falls during the construction. It doesnt ruin the trip, but just sorta sucks for photos.
