We’ve talked a lot about what to bring to the DCP program, but it’s just as important what NOT to bring with you!
All apartments are inspected monthly. The team of 2 inspectors will open every drawer, closet, cabinet, oven door, etc. looking for violations of the Disney Housing Policy.
We know many CPs who were termed over apartment inspections, and it wasn’t their stuff/violation.
So, here’s a list of what NOT to bring:
Weapons of ANY kind. Guns, rifles, knives, swords, paint ball, martial arts stuff. This includes nerf and plastic ones!!! [Magic wands from Harry Potter World are now allowed.]
Live animals of ANY kind. No pets, kittens, puppies, fish, geckos, spiders, insects, nothing! [Pet Rock is OK.]
Candles (the fire code prohibits burning them in the apartment). Smoking is not allowed inside any CP apartment. Lighters are discouraged.
Outdoor Grills. The housing complexes all have grills to use by the clubhouses.
Illegal drugs or ANY drug paraphernalia, Hookah pipes, bongs, etc. All drugs in the apartment must have a prescription. Over-the-counter drugs like Advil, sinus spray, Tylenol, etc. are OK. Bath salts are not.
Bikes. There are no bike/skate paths or bike storage facilities in any DCP housing units. Bikes may not be chained up outside your apartment and can’t be stored inside your apartment. You may bring roller blades/skateboards/skates; however you may not use them within the housing complexes, on the sidewalks, streets, etc.
Small/mini refrigerators This prohibition has recently changed (Spring 2015) and you can now have a mini (dorm) refrigerator if it’s placed on a rubber mat in the living room.
Alcohol in a Wellness apartments. Nope, not one drop! Do not bring it!
Remember, here’s our list of what TO bring to the DCP program:
Two Girls and a Mouse Tale
by Elly Collins & Caroline Collins
Ever wonder what it’s like to work for Disney???
We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program and have written a book about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.
We’ve included advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney. Available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.
