Memento Mori is the new Haunted Mansion-themed shop located in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom.

Memento Mori, Latin for ‘remember (that you have) to die’, opened right before Halloween 2014 in the former Yankee Trader shop. As the Haunted Mansion attraction is one of Caroline’s favorite rides at MK, we had to stop in and look at all the merchandise!

We loved the Haunted Mansion Cast Member t-shirt! (Remember, no smiling allowed when you wear this one!)

Merchandise cast members wear costumes that are slightly different from the maid and butler costumes from the attraction, including a unique Madame Leota-inspired broach that female cast members wear.

Madame Leota’s beautiful portrait is rumored to have been created during the time she lived in the area. (It changes its look every 60 seconds.)

Something I never knew:  Each piece of HM dinnerwear features a floorplan of the Haunted Mansion.  The dinner plate has the 1st Floor, the salad plate has the 2nd Floor, the dessert plate has the 3rd Floor.

Thinking about the ride, you start out on the first floor, then move through the gallery on the second floor, finally exiting the mansion on the 3rd floor.  (You can even see the roof shingles when you exit the house!)

I had no idea that the ride was supposedly taking place in a 3 story mansion!!!

Adventures in the Animal Kingdom

Lions and Tigers and Strollers, Oh My!

This is not Caroline’s first time in the Disney College Program. Along with her sister, she was previously accepted into the program a few years earlier.  Back in Colorado, Caroline was wishing for a little more pixie dust to brighten up her life.  On a whim, she decides to apply to the exclusive Disney Alumni Summer Program.

Now that she’s back, things get wild.

Wild, as in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where Caroline is assigned to work in Stroller Rental.  While not the most glamorous position in the park, it’s often ground zero for humanity at its best and at its worst.

While Caroline makes many “Magical Moments” for deserving guests whose pixie dust has gone temporarily sideways, she also receives magical moments of her own through the friendships she makes, going to Disney cast member exclusive events, and all the spectacular dining opportunities at Disney World.

Caroline tells all – from the ins and outs of Disney’s secret training class called Traditions; to learning how to be a happy cast member during on-the-job training; to what it’s like to interact with fellow cast members and the guests who are ready to explore the most magical place on earth.

Join Caroline as she takes you on a wild ride through her adventures in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But be careful, it’s a jungle out there!

Available now at in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.

  1. i can’t wait to visit this new shop next time I’m down there. It’s about time they made a haunted mansion store. They used to have a souvenir cart at the exit but it never had enough stuff. I love the wallpaper mugs. It’s funny because my great aunt who passed away a while ago now had the same pattern wallpaper in her house as the haunted mansion lol. Needless to say her house had a similar spooky feel to it especially the a basement.
