Adventures in the Animal Kingdom

Lions and Tigers and Strollers, Oh My!

This is not Caroline’s first time in the Disney College Program. Along with her sister, she was previously accepted into the program a few years earlier.  Back in Colorado, Caroline was wishing for a little more pixie dust to brighten up her life.  On a whim, she decides to apply to the exclusive Disney Alumni Summer Program.

Now that she’s back, things get wild.

Wild, as in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where Caroline is assigned to work in Stroller Rental.  While not the most glamorous position in the park, it’s often ground zero for humanity at its best and at its worst.

While Caroline makes many “Magical Moments” for deserving guests whose pixie dust has gone temporarily sideways, she also receives magical moments of her own through the friendships she makes, going to Disney cast member exclusive events, and all the spectacular dining opportunities at Disney World.

Caroline tells all – from the ins and outs of Disney’s secret training class called Traditions; to learning how to be a happy cast member during on-the-job training; to what it’s like to interact with fellow cast members and the guests who are ready to explore the most magical place on earth.

Join Caroline as she takes you on a wild ride through her adventures in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But be careful, it’s a jungle out there!

Available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.

  1. Can a CM use their main entrance pass and guest passes in the morning and then use a comp pass in the evening at a different park on the same day? The main entrance pass is needed for the guest passes, and the comp pass is needed because the second park is a block out date for the main entrance pass. Both the main entrance pass and the comp pass are linked to one MagicBand. Thanks for your help!

    1. Yes.
So, say you use your main gate and a guest pass at Epcot in the morning, then in the afternoon use your main gate and a comp pass at the Magic Kingdom (which is blacked out for guest passes, but not self admission). MyMagic+ will link fine.
Just be sure it’s not a blacked out day for self admission. (There are very few of those days per year.)

  2. I will be marrying a cast member on my birthday in October. We decided to do our honeymoon at Disney and have a reservation at Grand Floridian resort. Is there any benefit to having a spouse pass or is it the same as a guest pass? If so I won’t be able to get it for our honeymoon anyhow since we’re going directly from the wedding to Disney. I’ve been worried about linking FastPass to the guest pass. I know that with a Resort reservation you can do FastPass up to 60 days before your arrival. Does that still hold true for the guest pass? We still aren’t 100% clear on his main gate pass and blockout dates. We called and asked and the cast member told us his main gate pass has no blockout dates but the guest passes do. She said he can get in anytime but his guests can’t. I know he can get in with his company ID too. Can the Magic Band I use for my resort stay be linked to the guest pass too?

    1. First, congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!

You will LOVE staying at the Grand Floridian. It’s a fantasy…so beautiful!

The spouse (you!) and dependents of full-time Disney Cast Members get in for free and he won’t have to use his guest passes. He’ll need to register you and you’ll get a Silver Pass. This pass is separate from the complimentary guest passes that he gets annually. It also gets you free parking at the parks.

You’ll get a 20% CM merchandise discount if you’ll be there in early October, and it bumps to 40% for the Holiday Celebration around Oct. 20th. Have him make the hotel reservation and he’ll get the CM discount, which will save you a bundle at the GF. You CAN’T get the discount at check-in, you must get it applied when making the reservation. Be sure to mention that it’s your honeymoon!

Magic bands are very easy to link to the Main Gate pass and also to set up Fast Passes with. It’s on the Hub and also here: https://collinsrace1.wordpress.com/2015/03/16/main-entrance-passes-now-eligible-for-mymagic/

      Have a magical day!!

      1. Ok glad you could straighten that out. When he called the cast member line the CM told him the spouse pass counts from his yearly 16 allotment. We were disappointed. We are going at the end of October and I’m trying to guess which days will be blocked out to me. Friday the 30th and Sat the 31st(Halloween) or will it be 31st and 1st of November? I wish they gave further notice on blackout dates for guest passes since I will have to use the guest pass for Honeymoon. After we get back he can register me for the spouse pass. Oh and I read that guest passes can only reserve 4 days of FastPass even if my reservation is for 7 days. Boo. We should have waited on our honeymoon til after I got the spouse pass.
Does his main entrance pass have seperate blockout days if he was going to go himself? Like cast member blockout and seperate guest pass blockout?

  3. Hi! My cousin is a CM at Disney and I’m going there in March. I’m using the guest passes, however, I’m buying a separate ticket for magic kingdom because it is blacked out. is there a way I can link both my guest passes and my regular pass to my magicband?

    Like

    1. You won’t be able to link their guest passes to your band, the guest passes will just show up under the CM’s My Disney Experience account. Your cousin will have to manage those days’ fast passes. You will be able to link your hard tickets to your band and connect the fast passes with it, though. Have fun! 🙂
