A new Jungle Cruise-themed restaurant is coming to Adventureland in November 2015 just in time for the holidays! Finally, no more having to leave Adventureland to get something to eat for lunch or dinner.
Expected to be called Skipper’s Cantina, the restaurant is rumored to be offering counter service similar to the nearby Columbia House in Liberty Square or Pecos Bill in Frontierland, with entrees around $10.
We’re hoping the food will be similar to Captain Cook’s at the Polynesian and have a South Seas favor to it!
The new restaurant is expected to be themed around the near-by Jungle Cruise attraction. The back story would revolve around Jungle Cruise skippers being paid poorly by the Jungle Navigation Company (or Disney in real life, wink-wink) and needing to operate the restaurant to make a little more money.
The new restaurant replaces the old Adventureland Veranda, which closed in 1994. Most recently, the location was used as Tinkerbell’s meet & greet area, the Magical Nook, until she moved to Main Street’s Town Square Theater in May 2014.
We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program (Fall 2013/Spring 2014) and have written a book about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.
We included advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney.
