Night of Sevens DCP Welcome Event
I got off work at 6:30pm and was home about an hour later. Even though the Animal Kingdom is only about 5 miles from my apartment, it takes that long to leave work, catch the bus and make it back to Chatham. The traffic around Disney Springs, especially in the evening, is always terrible, just stop-and-go with a lot of sitting at red lights.
There’s still significant construction activities going on around Disney Springs every day, all summer long!
When I got home, the DCP summer housing event was happening literally across from my apartment at Chatham Square field.
The CPs were in full party mode with loud music (hosted by a DJ) and lots of dancing.
The food at the housing events is free and is usually pretty good. I walked over there and got a slice of pizza and a soda.
The theme tonight was “Night of Sevens” honoring the Chinese holiday celebrating love. It’s often compared to Valentine’s Day in our country.
Special Disney characters are always on hand for a Meet & Greet, and tonight’s guests were the “romance experts” Mushu, Chip and Dale, all in their Chinese costumes. I stopped by to see them and have my picture taken with all three characters.
The music was very good and the evening air was warm. The afternoon thunderstorms had passed through Orlando about five hours earlier, so everything had already dried off.
It’s too bad that my roommates were all working and couldn’t make it. Before heading back to my apartment (50-foot walk), I grabbed a couple more slices of pizza for lunch tomorrow. 🙂
It was a fun way to end my day.

Working back at DAK for the DCP Alumni summer internship program!
Two Girls and a Mouse Tale
by Elly Collins & Caroline Collins
Ever wonder what it’s like to work for Disney???
We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program and have written a book about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.
We’ve included advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney. Available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.
