Two Girls and a Mouse Tale

by Elly Collins & Caroline Collins

Ever wonder what it’s like to work for Disney???

We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program and have written a book about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.

We’ve included advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney. Available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.

Hello, I will be participating in the Spring Advantage 2016 DCP at WDW and I’m wondering if all of these discounts are also available at Disney World, or just Disneyland? I won’t be checking in until Feb. 1st either, so will I still be able to enjoy any of these discounts (if applicable) when I check in for my program? Thanks in advance! Your blog has been so helpful and informative! 😀

    • The 2015 Holiday Celebration booklet posted in our blog is just for Disney World CMs. Disneyland has their own celebration discounts.

As a Spring CP, you won’t get the booklet with all the coupons, etc. But, once you complete Traditions on Feb 3rd or 4th, and you get your company ID, you can get discounts!

Until Feb 11, 2016: Special ‘holiday discount’ on all merchandise (40% discount!) is in effect.
Many of the on-property restaurants and hotels give CM discounts, but not as great a discount as they give with the booklet coupons.
You’ll be able to get into Blizzard Beach for free, 50% off for guests.

We hope that you love being a CP and enjoy your program!! It goes by soooo fast!!

  2. Heather says:

My son is there now. How does he going about finding out information for the dining plan discount? We are DVC, but he is on the reservation as well. Would we still qualify for the dining plan discount?

  3. Ashley says:

I don’t work for Disney anymore but never used the holiday passes. Am I still able to use them?

    • Unfortunately, no, as you no longer are a cast member.
You must be a Disney employee to use guest and holiday passes.
(Remember, the cast member goes through the turnstile first, then their guests must immediately follow next
      for the passes to work.)

  4. Mercy says:

Hi I current just got hired at Disneyland and I was wondering if the 4 holiday tickets we receive also includes my own (in total of 4 people) or it’s 4 other guests and my main entrance pass for myself (in total of 5 people)?

  5. michelle says:

hi, My dad has 5 free Disney Family Holiday Celebration tickets, my baby is only 20 months old, is she counted as “1 ticket” or no because she gets in for free? thank you 🙂

  6. Alice Moye, Retiree says:

What are the blackout days for 2016 on my Family Holiday tickets?

  7. Rebecca says:

We’re visiting some friends who are cast members in a few months. We ended up booking the room on a hotel offer through Disney instead of through friends and family, as the room we wanted wasn’t available on friends and family.

We recently found out that cast members get dining plan discounts, but we aren’t sure if that can be applied to a full priced room, or how long in advance they can be applied?

  8. HT says:

if i go on a non block out day with a self admission pass (non main admission pass) plus the tickets can i have five total or do one of the holiday ticket belong to me? When i collected the tickets from the employee center they said the first ticket is for me but I’m confused by that.

    • Our opinion:
Yes, you’ll only need the first ticket IF you go on a blocked out day for self admission.
Otherwise, you get in for free like normal and use the complimentary Holiday passes for your guests.

If anyone knows otherwise why a CM would need a pass on a non-blocked out day, let us know!

  9. Celia says:

can you use the tickets and your main entrance tickets at the same time ?

  10. Meghan says:

If I get accepted for DCP for fall or fall advantage of 2016, could I book a disney vacation-i would most likely book the vacation in December-for the summer of 2017 and use my cast discount?
    Thanks for your help!

    • No, unfortunately since you won’t be a CM in 2017 (unless you stay on with Disney!), you won’t get the discount. You need to present your Blue ID and perner (Disney employee number) at check in.

  11. jennasujdak says:

Random question. Did you guys get Holiday pay for Christmas? I’m hearing all this about no holiday pay, but three years ago I swear I got holiday pay for Christmas. I’m trying to figure out when it stopped.

  12. Seattleite says:

What are the eligibility requirements for Cast Members to participate in the holiday celebration? Are seasonal CM eligible? Do they have to be hired by a certain date or have worked a specified number of hours? Thanks.

    • Yes, you have to be onboard by October 1st (I think) to get the holiday celebration booklet. Those that start later within the year, i.e., the CPs that will arrive in January 2017 for the spring program won’t get a booklet although the discount coupons are good until October 2017.

Temporary cast members, including those in the DCP program and seasonal CMs, are eligible (I believe) will receive a booklet.
I don’t think there’s a minimum hours worked requirement to get the discount booklet.

  13. jeanie Hernnandez says:

I’m a retiree Cast Member, at this moment I do not received my complimentary ticket.

  14. Jenniffer S Hiatt says:

My daughter is a DCP currently in Disney World. She has received a Disney Family Holiday ticket on the Hub. It does not say how many people she can use it for. It says gather your entire party but not a number. Do you know how many people can enter the park with this pass? Thanks!

    • (We have the information for 2017 Holiday Celebration here: 2017-2018 Disney Holiday Celebration)
I’m not sure why there’s so much confusion this year about this pass.

Regular Disney cast members, full time or part time, get a certain number of holiday celebration passes based on years of service. That’s why it says “gather your party”.

CPs are considered seasonal cast members and get 1 complimentary pass to admit 1 guest. It’s a park hopper ticket and the benefit is worth over $100.

She can verify this on The Hub under >>Complimentary Passes.

“Present one (1) Disney Family Holiday Celebration Ticket for each of your Guests.
Any eTickets (printed or displayed on a mobile device) will be exchanged at the touch point for plastic entry tickets (if you have not exchanged them in advance).”

      Have a magical day!
