Mardi Gras 2016 Celebration at Disney

Mickey as Mardi Gras King

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Mardi Gras – Fat Tuesday – fell on February 9th this year.

It’s celebrated at all the Disney parks, but especially at Disneyland and Disney World!

The New Orleans Square of Disneyland is always decorated for Mardi Gras. The streets of New Orleans Square were filled with jazz music, Disney characters, street performers and delicious food at New Orleans Bayou Bash for the special event.

Special entertainment for Mardi Gras included performances by Princess Tiana, Louis and Naveen, along with meet & greet opportunities with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Chip ‘n’ Dale – all dressed up in their Mardi Gras finest!

Disney World:

At Disney World’s Port Orleans Resort, there was a mini-float parade consisting of themed golf carts decorated by resort cast members at 10am on Fat Tuesday. The parade featured music, select Disney characters in Mardi Gras costumes, and party beads and candy were given out to guests along the parade route.

Two Girls and a Mouse Tale

by Elly Collins & Caroline Collins

Ever wonder what it’s like to work for Disney???

We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program and have written a book about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.

We’ve included advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney. Available now at in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.

  1. Sam says:

They’ve stopped the performers and characters at Disneyland for this. Now there isn’t anything different to a normal day other than the decorations.
