At one time, there were several live performers at Epcot (not the Disney characters) that you could see daily outside of the Italy and France pavilions, similar to DiVine at Disney’s Animal Kingdom today.
They’ve been gone about 4-5 years now.
They looked like they were from the Renaissance period, 1500s – 1600s.
They were amazing to watch! Their interactions with guests were a lot of fun to watch too. They never opened their eyes, but they seemed to know where the guests were and what they were doing!
You can watch their performance magic at the 2.11′ mark in this video from 2009: Epcot’s Living Statues.
On one of our visits to Epcot, this mime was rolling around in a huge ball outside France:
He was pretty cool to watch!

Ever wonder what it’s like to work for Disney???
We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program (Fall 2013/Spring 2014) and have written a book about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.
We’ve included advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney. Available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.
