Fire at Festival of the Lion King

Smoke can be seen coming from under the elephant float.

A fire happened today (March 21, 2016) during one of the afternoon performances of the Festival of the Lion King in the new theater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

About 1,000 people were evacuated from the attraction after the electrical fire started under the elephant float, one of the show’s four large floats. The fire department was called, but the fire was out before they arrived.  No one was injured during the incident.

The next afternoon performance was cancelled and the first show tomorrow may be cancelled as well.

Guests who were evacuated were given a free fast pass ticket for another attraction. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

This was the bad boy that caused so much trouble yesterday.  But, the custodials got him all cleaned up and maintenance fixed his wiring, and the show is back on today!  🙂

Two Girls and a Mouse Tale

by Elly Collins & Caroline Collins

Ever wonder what it’s like to work for Disney???

We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program (Fall 2013/Spring 2014) and have written a book about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.

We’ve included advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney. Available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.
