The 5th Annual Easter Egg Display is going on now over at the Grand Floridian until April 4, 2016.

These nineteen JUMBO chocolate Easter Eggs (9-12 pounds each!!) are created and crafted by Disney Chefs over the course of three weeks. Each egg is 16”-20” tall and decorated with “edible products such as modeling chocolate, fondant, sugar floral, royal icing, colored cocoa butter and sculpted sugar art pieces.”

Ever wonder what it’s like to work for Disney???

We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program and have written a book about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.

We’ve included advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney. Available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.

Drinking Around Epcot’s World Showcase

drink

The Drinking Around the World challenge.

One of the most popular things to do at Epcot’s World Showcase is a challenge called “Drinking Around The World”.

This challenge is where guests aim to have one drink at each of Epcot’s 11 World Showcase countries in one day.

It’s not easy and it’s not cheap…but, it is fun!

Epcot Drinking Guide

The basic drinking guide.

During the International Flower and Garden Show in the spring and then again during the Food and Wine Festival in the fall, stand-alone booths are set up for extra countries, which means there are even more drinks to sample.  You can even get a free “passport” booklet with the drinks listed and have them stamp it at every country you sample.

Collecting country stamps as we ate and drank around the world.

Best Drink:  In Mexico, hands down. We recommend a stop at the La Cava Del Tequila inside the Mexico pavilion to get your drinking trip around the World Showcase started. Try one of several unique margaritas or a flight of tequila– our favorite!

Some Challenge Advice

Pace Yourself. There’s no prize for getting this done quick. Or even done at all! Set a whole day aside to do this and remember, there’s nothing wrong with admitting to yourself that you’ve hit your limit and taking a break. Take your time — it’s certainly not a race. Spend a whole afternoon and evening to make your trip, and cap it all off with a viewing of IllumiNations at 9pm. And, plan on a designated driver, of course!

Drink lots of water and eat some food. In addition to getting a drink at every country, make a point of getting water at least at every other country and have some kind of food throughout the day. The Florida sun can be brutal, even in the non-summer months, so be aware of how much you’re getting affected by it.

Budget appropriately. Like most things at WDW, the drinks are going to be expensive ranging anywhere between $7 and $16 each. A good budget is $100 for the challenge, more during the Flower and Garden Show or the Food and Wine Festival!

Drinking 1

Morning:  The fruity drinks (with rum!)

drinking 2

Afternoon:  Some beer and wines

drinking 3

Evening:  Coffees and tequilas…

Nighttime Awakenings at DAK’s Tree of Life

animal-kingdom-night-14-full

Animal spirits coming alive on the Tree of Life.

First look at the new Nighttime Awakening Show on the Tree of Life:  Nighttime Awakenings.

A brand new after-dark show is coming to DAK and we can’t wait to see it!  It’s called Nighttime Awakenings.  It’s premiering on Earth Day 2016, April 22nd.

A sunset, great Tree of Life will come alive with swirling colors, twinkling fireflies, and numerous animal spirits!

tree-of-life-gallery10

The Tree of Life after dark

After the sun sets, animal spirits within the great tree come alive and reveal themselves in mesmerizing color and light.

tree-of-life-gallery01

The Tree of Life at sunset.

During the evening hours, pay special attention to the Tree of Life at the center of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. At various times, flickering fireflies magically appear and awaken the wondrous animals spirits carved into the tree’s towering trunk—bringing to light a stunning visual extravaganza swarming with vivid color and animated imagery.

Witness a graceful young doe embark on a thrilling cross-country journey. Behold love blossoming between 2 hummingbirds. See a spry fox spreading gifts of love among the denizens of a wintry forest.

A feast for the eyes, each approximately 3-minute-long revelation celebrates the eternal balance and harmony that exists in all living things, big or small, and is sure to inspire and delight the entire family, big and small.

Good night DAK!

I worked at DAK for 1 1/2 years and it’s my favorite Disney park!  “Be careful – it’s a jungle out there!” 🙂

Special Characters are Leaving the Magic Kingdom

Lady Tremaine

Lady Tremaine and her “lovely” daughters.

We are sad to hear that not only are Lady Tremaine and her two daughters leaving their meet and greet area in front of Cinderella Castle soon, so is the Fairy Godmother!

Fairy Godmother

The Fairy Godmother is one of the nicest characters!

All of them are now off of the regularly scheduled Disney character meet and greet app.

We always look forward to meeting all these ladies on our visits!  We hope that they will be back soon!
