New Cast Member Costumes for Pandora – The World of Avatar Coming to DAK

pandora

New cast member costumes for Pandora were previewed this week.

There’s something about the look of these costumes that vaguely looks like a combination of the Spaceship Earth cast member costumes at Epcot and the Tomorrowland costumes at the Magic Kingdom!

pandora6

New name tags for all cast members working in Pandora.

There are three groups residing in Pandora: Alpha Centauri Expeditions, Scientists from the Pandora Conservation Initiative, and EXPAT Community.

Each of these groups have specific roles in Pandora and each will have special costumes that reinforce those roles for guests.

Pandora – The World of Avatar opens for guests May 27, 2017 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

avatar (2)

Welcome to the World of Avatar!

This new land will transport guests to the visually stunning world of Pandora. Here, guests will wonder at floating mountains and bioluminescent plants, and can join the Na’vi on two excursions that take adventure to the next level.

Na’vi River Journey

First, the family friendly Na’vi River Journey will send guests through a bioluminescent rainforest. (Similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at MK.)

Cool photo pass op!

The journey ends with an unforgettable encounter with a Na’vi Shaman, a figure who has a deep connection to the life force of Pandora.

Soarin on a banshee.

Flight of Passage! Soaring on the back of a banshee.  This will be one crazy simulator ride!!!

Second, Avatar Flight of Passage will offer guests the jaw-dropping experience of exploring the world of Pandora atop a Banshee. (The banshee flight simulator is similar ride to Soarin’ Around the World ride at Epcot.) The new ride system will be “considerably more thrilling” than the current Soarin’ attraction. Guests will “climb up the mountains of Pandora” in the queue for the ride before entering the show building where they will ‘take off and fly’, literally launching off the cliffs on a Banshee.

We love DAK and can’t wait for Pandora to open next month!

Ever wonder what it’s like to work for Disney???

We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program and have written a book about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.

We’ve included advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney. Available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.

‘Spooky Day in the Parks’ Coming September 2017

spooky-day

September 22-23, 2017

Spooky Day in the Parks is a two day meet up event for fans that have a “villainous” side. A mixture of Theme Park gatherings, special VIP events, bizarre merchandise to fulfill your dark side, and much more!

Spooky Day in the Parks will be held September 22 – 23, 2017.

coranado

Special room rates at Coronado Springs Resort will be available for the event.

The event will take place in multiple locations throughout Walt Disney World, including convention space at Coronado Springs (where you can book rooms at special event rates), an intentionally dark and dreary day at the Magic Kingdom – and even a special private soiree at the Tower of Terror!

tot

Special private event party at ToT!

The party night dates for 2017 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party have been announced and September 22, 2017 is one of the dates.  This is the only time adults can get into the Magic Kingdom dressed in costume.

spooky

Adults are only allowed to wear costumes in the MK park on Halloween Party nights.

This is not an official Disney event, but a gathering of fans in conjunction with the Spooky Empire organization, which will be renting space at Walt Disney World.

Adventures in the Animal Kingdom

Lions and Tigers and Strollers, Oh My!

This is not Caroline’s first time in the Disney College Program. Along with her sister, she was previously accepted into the program a few years earlier.  Back in Colorado, Caroline was wishing for a little more pixie dust to brighten up her life.  On a whim, she decides to apply to the exclusive Disney Alumni Summer Program.

Now that she’s back, things get wild.

Wild, as in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where Caroline is assigned to work in Stroller Rental.  While not the most glamorous position in the park, it’s often ground zero for humanity at its best and at its worst.

While Caroline makes many “Magical Moments” for deserving guests whose pixie dust has gone temporarily sideways, she also receives magical moments of her own through the friendships she makes, going to Disney cast member exclusive events, and all the spectacular dining opportunities at Disney World.

Caroline tells all – from the ins and outs of Disney’s secret training class called Traditions; to learning how to be a happy cast member during on-the-job training; to what it’s like to interact with fellow cast members and the guests who are ready to explore the most magical place on earth.

Join Caroline as she takes you on a wild ride through her adventures in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But be careful, it’s a jungle out there!
