Tips for Enjoying Your Disney Honeymoon

And now for the honeymoon...

And now for the honeymoon…

Disneymoon:  Having your honeymoon at Disney!

Don’t expect your ‘Disneymoon’ to be like any other time that you have been to Disney. This vacation for two is extra magical!

The usual WDW advice includes waking up early, beating the crowds, and getting on the best rides in before noon.  This, however, is your honeymoon!  You aren’t supposed to be awake early.  You and your new spouse should be taking a break from all the hustle and bustle leading up to your wedding day, and be enjoying a quiet, relaxing time together.

There’s nothing wrong with putting out a “Do Not Disturb” sign and sleeping in!  Go to the park when you feel like it!

You aren’t missing anything that you can’t see on a future trip.

Mr. & Mrs.

New Mr. & Mrs. wedding bands

For all you lovebirds out there, here’s a little advice for planning the perfect Disney honeymoon:

1.  Decide where you want to go:  Disneyland (California), Disney World (Florida), Aulani (Hawaii), Disneyland Paris (France), or a Disney cruise (anywhere in the world!).

The Cinderella Castle at sunset.

The Cinderella Castle at sunset.

Let’s assume your dream Disneymoon is at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

2.  Take a longer trip. Two or three days at Disney World just won’t do! Think about 7-10 nights with some breaks from the parks to explore everything Disney has to offer – Disney’s Boardwalk, Disney Springs, shopping, the hotel pool, nearby Florida beaches, Universal Studios, seeing local attractions like the Orlando Eye, and more.

3.  Stay on property and splurge on your hotel if you can. Your Disneymoon should be the one trip in your life when you spend time in your room. You know…honeymoon…time alone…a nice big bed with luxurious soft sheets…you get the idea.

The new Happily Ever After celebration buttons.

4.  Get free Disneymoon Celebration Buttons and wear your buttons proudly!!  You never know what will happen when people know you are on your Disneymoon.  You can get free “Happily Ever After” buttons at your Disney hotel, Park Guest Relations, or at City Hall at the Magic Kingdom.

You’ll be amazed at how many random people will strike up a conversation with you because of the buttons and who knows, maybe some magic will make its way into your trip because you two are an adorable couple.  Also, have “just married” or “bride/groom” shirts made for your trip. You will love how these look in pictures!  Expect many Magical Moments from cast members celebrating your happiness with you.

5.  Don’t forget to buy your bride and groom Mickey Mouse ears. Make sure you get them personalized with your names, wedding date, or “Mr./Mrs.”.  Make them memorable, magical, and special to you both.

Drinks for two at the France pavilion in Epcot await you!

6.  Share some drinks around the world in Epcot. Champagne in France?  Yes, please! Nothing is more romantic than celebrating your love at the place where dreams come true.

A romantic carriage ride for two at Port Orleans.

A romantic carriage ride for two at Disney’s Port Orleans.

7.  Take a carriage ride. This can be done at Port Orleans and is only $45 for a 25 minute ride.  Reservations can be made in advance.  It’s a romantic trip around the quiet and very scenic resort grounds.

8. “Selfies” aren’t always the best quality pictures for special occasions.   The Photopass CMs are found at the most iconic places around the Disney parks and are always ready to make some picture magic for you.  They will even use your camera to snap pictures if you ask, in addition to using their professional camera. You might also consider adding Memory Maker to your Disney World package to capture all of your happy memories.  All your pictures will be stored in one handy place online for when you get home.

9.  Plan at least one romantic dinner for two. Disney World is more than cheeseburgers and French fries.  In fact, some of the best restaurants in the world are located right on Disney property.  For a little royal romance, try to get a dining reservation at Be Our Guest or Cinderella’s Royal Table.

Wishes!

Disney’s ‘Happily Ever After’ fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom

10.  See the new fireworks show every evening at the Magic Kingdom!  Nothing says romance like a castle, a fabulous view of Fantasyland, and great food.  Plan on finishing dinner early enough (by 8pm) to watch the spectacular new Happily Ever After show.

11.  Take a long walk on the beach.   Take a long walk on the beach at the Polynesian Resort all culminating with watching fireworks beach side after dark. Make an early reservation at ‘Ohana, eat dinner, and then take your new spouse for a walk on the beach. You two can watch the fireworks together privately on the beach with your toes in the sand, hand in hand.

Speaking of the beach, if you are taking a more relaxing route for your Disneymoon, don’t forget to check out the outdoor movies on the Disney beaches. The beach hotels will have more information about movies on the beach and it is always a good way to unwind after a long Disney day.

12.  Schedule a 90 minute couples spa at Senses in the Grand Floridian. It’s a full service spa with everything from facials to massages. Get some relaxing time in between the hustle and bustle of your Disney vacation.

Don't forget to buy some honeymoon keepsakes.

Finally, enjoy your Disneymoon!!!  May the happiness you share together at Disney during your Disneymoon last for the rest of your lives together.

The 5 Magic Walls of Disney World

IMG_6894

The famous Purple Wall at MK in all its glory.

It’s a fun photo scavenger hunt to find these “Disney Walls” in the WDW parks.

The best WDW walls for your next Instagram photo are:

Purple Wall

Elly in front of the #PurpleWall.

#1:  Magic Kingdom Park’s #PurpleWall – The famous #PurpleWall is kind of cool. It’s located in Magic Kingdom near the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor in Tomorrowland.

It’s a pale purple blank wall that really doesn’t look like anything special. Except it is. It’s a wildly popular spot to have your photo taken – or take a selfie – and then post it on Instagram. Posting link: https://www.instagram.com/purplewallphotos/

The wall photographs really well. Its medium lilac color is a flattering background color on everyone, there’s good indirect lighting there, and it’s just enough out of the way that you don’t have an audience watching you pose.

So, take your time and get out your cell phone….and snap a few photos of you and your friends!

Action:  Next time you’re walking in Tomorrowland, stop for a few seconds at the #PurpleWall and take some photos.

Action Rating:  Worth it!

#3:  Epcot’s #BlueberryWall – Two steps away from the #BubbleGumWall is the bright #BlueberryWall.

#4:  Epcot’s #TheBigBlueWall –You can find the #TheBigBlueWall upon exiting The Seas With Nemo and Friends pavilion.

There’s even a nice bench to sit on in front of the #MossWall.

#5: NEW WALL!!! Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s #MossWall  – Head into Pandora – The World of Avatar and walk towards Satu’li Canteen. Just opposite the restaurant’s front door is the newest and very popular Disney wall, which you can spot on Instagram under the hashtag #MossWall.

There are actually lots of cool moss walls all over Pandora!

April 9, 2018 Update:  The solid Purple Wall in Tomorrowland is no more!

It’s all different-colored purple triangles, with sort of an Epcot look.  Just a tiny bit of the #PurpleWall is left by the restrooms.

And, the new wall it has it’s own Instagram!   #GalacticPurpleWall

Toy Story Land is opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios June 30, 2018!

And, Toy Story 4 is on the way!

Movie Trailer: Toy Story 4

This time, it’s all about the love story between Woody and Bo Peep.

“I love Bo Peep,” said John Lasseter, the former chief creative officer of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios. “And we never got to know her backstory. She wasn’t in Toy Story 3 at all, so it really set us up nicely for her to come back. It’s a very special story.” For Lasseter, in particular. The Disney exec revealed that Bo Peep’s story is based off of his own wife Nancy’s life.

Both Tim Allen and Tom Hanks will be back for Toy Story 4!

Both Tim Allen and Tom Hanks will be back for Toy Story 4!

Bo Peep is voiced by Annie Potts. Tom Hanks, of course, voices Woody, while Tim Allen covers Buzz Lightyear.

Magic Kingdom’s Magician Mickey to Stop Talking

magician

Magician Mickey talks and performs simple magic acts while interacting with guests.

UPDATE:  Mickey’s last day talking will be May 12, 2018!

***

It’s being reported that Magician Mickey – the only “head” character that talks – will stop talking to guests at the Magic Kingdom in mid-May 2018.

Head (i.e., total body) characters never speak, so as not to ruin the magic. But, for the past 4 years, Magician Mickey in his theater on Main Street USA has been talking and performing simple magic tricks for guests.

The line to meet him can be very long, over 2 hours in the summer.

Throwback Thursday:  Caroline’s Birthday Magical Moment

For Caroline’s 22nd birthday, we went to the Magic Kingdom and immediately walked in to see Magician Mickey Mouse as there was no wait line.

Mickey wished Caroline a very Happy Birthday and then performed a magic card trick for us.  So cute!

Here’s a video of our family’s meet & greet with Magician Mickey a few months later.

So fun!

Magician Mickey Meet & Greet: This is the one location at Disney World where you can meet talking Mickey! For now, Magician Mickey can sing, ask questions, perform card tricks, and interact with guests.

Location: Town Square Theater is one of the first buildings on the right as you enter Magic Kingdom. It’s a convenient location if you want to stop in the first thing in the morning or on your way out of the park.

Rating: Worth it!
