Zip A Dee Doo Dah baggie

These ziplock baggies are really nice with a zipper lock.

As part of Ziploc’s partnership with Disney Parks, guests get a cute – and free! – resealable Ziploc bag to keep items dry while on the attraction.

The bags are available daily on a first come, first serve basis and guests are encouraged to recycle the bags.

ziplock2

Cast members handing out free baggies.

Splash-Mountain_Ziploc-Bags

It’s bigger than a snack sized baggie, so most cell phones will easily fit in the baggie.

The bags feature the fun Splash Mountain logo.

Splash Mountain doesn’t have lockers to protect valuables like Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so the free baggies are a great idea.  Guests have been bringing Ziplock baggies into the parks for years to protect their phones while on wet rides.

Cast members offer baggies to any guests wanting to protect their phones, glasses, car keys, etc.

ziplock3

Guests can keep the baggie or recycle it at the end of the ride.

There’s been huge debate about these plastic baggies as Disney recently announced it’s eliminating single use plastic straws worldwide as well as reducing plastic shopping bag usage by promoting reusable shopping bags ($1) available at all merchandise counters.

And, if you’re wondering if they’ve shown up on ebay, well wonder no more!

ziplock

The baggies were selling for $15 EACH on ebay last year!!!

And today, March 28, 2019:

A pre-kindergartener named Atlantis won Crazy Hair Day at her school after her mom went all out to style her hair to look just like Princess Ariel from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” the little girl’s big sister shared on Twitter Tuesday.

The big sister, coincidentally named Ariel, said her “mom did the mermaid because my name is Ariel and my sister is Atlantis, which is where Ariel lives under the sea :).”

Ariel says she and her baby sister have grown up loving mermaids thanks to their parents.

Cinderella-Style Carriage Strollers Banned at Disney World

carriage2

Cinderella Coach Carriage, $299/day

We saw these regal Cinderella Coach Carriages around the Magic Kingdom last month.

They are huge, much wider than the 31″ allowed now.

strollers

New rule says strollers can’t be more than 31″ wide at their widest width.

With the new stroller size restriction going into effect May 1, 2019, guests can no longer bring them into the park.

We think this is a good thing….they were just too big on crowded days. The carriage has two bench-style seats and a cup holder, far exceeding the new 31″ width restriction.

They weren’t cheap to rent…costing $299 to rent per day.

According to the rental service’s website, there are only 10 strollers available for rent per day.

carriage1They were very popular.

Cast members did not enjoy re-parking these bad boys.  They are too big, too wide.

Disney bans smoking, ice, and over-sized strollers at all theme parks

March 28, 2019:  Disney announced today that smoking inside all of their theme parks will be banned.  They are now officially Smoke-Free Environments.

The company made the announcement Thursday about a few rule changes set to go into effect at their parks on May 1, 2019.

The smoking ban covers Walt Disney World in Orlando, Disneyland theme parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Downtown Disney in California, and all water parks.

The only designated smoking areas will be found outside the entrances of the parks and at Disney Springs in Orlando.

For guests staying at Disney Resort hotels with room or dining reservations, there will be designated smoking areas to use.

The smoking ban goes into effect May 1, 2019.

[Cast members everywhere are celebrating this announcement!]

Also starting May 1st, any strollers over 31-inches will not be allowed inside the parks. The current limit is 36-inches.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is opening at both Disneyland and Disney World

Disney announced this month that Disneyland Park in California will open its Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction at Disneyland ahead of schedule on Friday, May 31st, while Disney World would open its Star Wars-themed area at the end of summer on August 29th.

Star Wars

March 2019: Stars Wars: Galaxy’s Edge under construction at Disney World. Still so much to do!

The massive 14-acre Star Wars section of Disneyland’s park will be the largest single-themed land expansion ever, according to a press release from Disney, and will have restaurants – including the park’s first-ever cantina – as well as rides and other experiences to offer customers a fully-immersive experience.

“Guests can become part of the story as they sample galactic food and beverages, explore an intriguing collection of merchant shops and take the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run,” a previous press release stated. The park has also revealed that this new experience is a “choose your own adventure,” with each choice potentially impacting a guest’s visit.

Phase Two of the massive fully-immersive land, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, will be opening later this year.

star wars 5

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

On opening day for Phase One, you’ll be able to live your own Star Wars story and take the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, sample amazing galactic food and beverages, and explore an intriguing collection of merchant shops and more.

Watch cool new  video:  Star Wars – Galaxy’s Edge

star wars7

At the controls of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Only 6 people per simulator ride???

And for Phase Two opening later this year, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, is the most ambitious, immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined that will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance and will blur the lines between fantasy and reality.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Guests planning to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland park in California between May 31 and June 23, 2019 will need valid theme park admission AND will be required to make a no-cost reservation, subject to availability, to access the land.  It is expected that the Star Wars Land will reach capacity every day.

Information on how to make a reservation will be available soon on Disneyland.com. Guests staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels during these dates will receive a designated reservation to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during their stay (one reservation per registered guest); valid theme park admission is required.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will not be available during Extra Magic Hour or Magic Morning at Disneyland Park. [The area will be closed during EMH.]

Disney FASTPASS service and Disney MaxPass are unavailable for attractions in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

A reservation will not be offered or required to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at  Disney World this time.

March 15, 2019:  All lodgings at the Disneyland Resort are now completely booked the night before the grand opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on May 31st. This includes Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier and Disney’s Grand Californian.

Disneyland closes Sleeping Beauty Castle for major improvements as part of Project StarDust

Sleeping Beauty Castle is undergoing a major $300,000 renovation. In early January 2019, the holiday décor came down and the construction walls went up around the Castle.

January 2019: This is what the turrets and Castle paint job looked like in January. The Castle was a much paler pink.

Disney is spending $300,000 to re-roof the castle, add fiber-reinforced plastic on the castle’s turrets, and repaint the entire Castle.  Each castle brick will be hand painted in blues, grays, and tans.

Unfortunately, it’s not a pretty sight.  Some many guests have been disappointed not being able to see the Castle this spring.

Guests can’t walk through the Castle during renovation.

In front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, a sign directs guests to access Fantasyland through alternate routes. Guests can no longer access Fantasyland through the drawbridge, visit Snow White’s Wishing Well, or see Fantasy Faire.

You’ll need to use the Big Thunder Mountain Trail or the Parade Route Path along the Matterhorn to get to Fantasyland.
