Disney Bounding:  When Disney fans dress up as contemporary versions of their favorite characters and go to the theme parks.
Disney Bounding is a way of dressing up as your favorite character using inspired color palettes, accessories, and clothing styles to look like the character, without actually being in a Disney costume. You simply use items from your own wardrobe to pull together a terrific look.

Having some cold ice cream, yes, it's a Mickey Bar!

Disney Bounding as Frozen characters.

Not sure what you’re going to wear to this year’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) yet?

If you don’t have the time or money for an all out Disney costume, what about Disney Bounding? (This goes for the guys too!)

‘Piper’, a Super Cute Disney-Pixar Short Movie for the Summer

piper

Meet Piper

We loved the Disney-Pixar short movie – Piper – about a baby sandpiper.

Really, really cute beach movie.

piperIt won the 2017 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 89th Academy Awards, becoming the first Pixar animated short to win the award since For the Birds in 2002.

Watch the full length movie here:  Piper: Disney-Pixar Oscar Winning Short Movie

piper2

Just adorable!

The Plot:

The Pixar short centers on a newborn sandpiper, Piper, who is brought by her mother to the shoreline so she can learn to feed on bivalves. However, she is caught off guard by an incoming wave and engulfed in it.

Traumatized, Piper refuses to go to the shore again, however, her hunger leaves her no choice. On her second attempt, she notices a tiny hermit crab who also comes to the shore to feed. As a new wave approaches, she observes that the crab buries himself down in the sand. Out of options, Piper resorts to imitating the crab. The wave submerges Piper, but she stays safely at the bottom. Opening her eyes, she witnesses with wonder all the bivalves creeping out of the sand to take a quick breath before the wave ebbs.

The short ends with Piper no longer afraid of the waves, jumping playfully in the water and tucking herself in the sand every time a wave comes in.

So cute!!

Having Dinner with the Beast at Be Our Guest Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom

***

guest10

Be Our Guest restaurant.

For a final get together before he left Disney World, Christian’s roommates got dinner reservations at Be Our Guest restaurant in the Magic Kingdom.

All his roommates decided to extend their DCP Spring 2019 program through the hot summer months until mid-August.  One of his roommates is in the Disney Culinary Program (Arthur) and hopes to make Disney his career.  He is an excellent chef.

Dinner at Be Our Guest is prix-fixe for $55/person and includes your choice of an appetizer, entrée, and dessert.  Cast members get a 20% discount.

It was already very hot for mid-May, in the mid-90s every day. This summer has been brutal in Orlando.

The restaurant is at the back of the Magic Kingdom and you have to walk through Fantasyland to reach it.

guest0

Sign out front of the restaurant.

guest15

Massive stone lions.

It’s a very pretty, Gothic restaurant with lots of stone.

It is the Beast’s Castle after all.

The Beast only makes appearances at dinnertime.

The food is actually better at breakfast, and it’s good for lunch. And much less expensive then as it’s all ala carte.

guest20

The Main Dining Room aka The Ballroom.  The huge windows do not look out at the Magic Kingdom.  It’s always twilight outside those windows and snowing.

They were lucky to be seated in the main dining room, which is the best and most sought after reservation.

Christian was feeling really adventurous and wanted to try something new.

Octopus

Not today, Satan!!!  Ordering this appetizer was a mistake!!

For his appetizer, he selected the Charred Octopus (served cold!).  This was not good and upset his stomach.

For his entrée, he went for the Sea Scallops.

Wilderness Lodge

A very warm late Spring night with the sun just setting to the west.

We tried something new on the last night of our Disney World trip:  Storybook Dining at Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge.

It’s very popular and very hard to get dinner reservations.  We were very lucky to get a reservation for three on Christian’s night off.

We love the Wilderness Lodge!

We arrived at the Wilderness Lodge early so we could walk around for a little bit.  The Wilderness is one of our favorite resorts at Disney World.

Our Full Meal Review with Tons of Photos:

On 12/16/2018, Artist Point Restaurant at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge reopened as a character dining experience called Storybook Dining.  We’ve previously eaten breakfast and lunch there many times, but never dinner.

The prix-fixe dinner meal at Storybook Dining is divided into three courses, all of which are included in the $55/adult price.  Drinks are extra.

Appetizers and desserts are served ‘family style’ on a large, leafy green Lazy Susan.

storybook8

Our appetizers arrive.

The appetizers served were: Winter Squash Bisque, Hunters Pie, and a Wicked Shrimp Cocktail.

We each tried a different entree.

The main courses we ordered were:  Royal Prime Rib Roast (Mitch), Butter Poached Snapper (Christian), Brothers Grimm Roasted Chicken (Caroline).

During the meal, Snow White, Grumpy and Dopey walked through the restaurant, while the Evil Queen was in her court in the corner of the dining room. Guests are invited to go get their pictures taken with the Evil Queen once their dinner is finished. At several times throughout our meal, there were special things going on with the characters dancing, etc.

Storybook

The Hunter’s Gift to the Queen

The last dessert brought to the table after we were done eating was the “The Hunter’s Gift to the Queen.” It arrives in a silver box and contains cracked maple popcorn and red chocolate hearts. That was fun.  So fancy.

Fine Dining at Teppan Edo in Epcot’s Japan Pavilion

*****

Japan6

Right on-time for our 6pm dinner reservation.

We were excited to get reservations at Teppan Edo in Epcot Japan.

Christian was able to use his 20% cast member discount, which was great because the bill was little over $150 for the 3 of us.

The food here is delicious, very fresh.

This is not a quick service restaurant.  Our meal took about 90 minutes to prepare and eat.

All the meals are prepared right in front of you, so it’s sort of like a dinner show.

A Feast for the Senses:  $34.99+/person

Every seat has an excellent view when Teppan chefs cook traditional Japanese dishes right at your table.

Celebrate authentic Japanese cuisine during an exciting dining experience that’s part meal, part show. In the communal ritual of Teppan-yaki-style cooking, skillful chefs chop and stir-fry dishes on grills at your table.

Select from steak, chicken, seafood and vegetable entrées, which are served with Udon noodles and steamed rice. You can also enjoy such favorites as teriyaki chicken, assorted sushi rolls, tempura and edamame.
