We’ve blogged about dining at Be Our Guest – the other expensive restaurant inside the Magic Kingdom – and now we turn our gaze to Cinderella’s Castle and dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table.
Cinderella’s Royal Table History:
Cinderella’s Royal Table opened its doors in October of 1971 under a very different name. Oddly, it was named King Stefan’s Banquet Hall after Sleeping Beauty’s father, although it was located within Cinderella Castle with the Sleeping Beauty Castle being in Disneyland.
This was due to the fact that Disney Imagineers wanted to give it a regal name. Since Cinderella’s father was unnamed (as was her husband, Prince Charming’s, royal father) and there were no well-known characters that met the royal criteria, the restaurant was named after Sleeping Beauty’s father, King Stephan.
It was not until April 28, 1997, after being open almost 26 years, that it was renamed to Cinderella’s Royal Table, ending the confusion of its name.
We like this restaurant better for lunch than for an overly-long dinner. Breakfast is the best meal that they serve here and we recommend that meal.
We also wish that the food was a little lighter in keeping with a mid-day meal and hot, hot, hot and humid Florida days. All the entrees served are very heavy and very calorie dense.
Disney should consider a more “California”-inspired menu for lunch! More salads, more sandwiches (club), more meals < 700 calories.

Note: Reservations are taken for Cinderella’s Royal Table 180 days out. THEY ARE VERY HARD TO GET! If you’re celebrating a special event or occasion, make your dining reservation as soon as you make your travel plans!

View of Fantasyland outside the windows.

Dine with Disney Princesses inside Cinderella Castle during this one-of-a-kind Fairytale Dining experience.
Cinderella makes your acquaintance in the majestic Grand Hall, before you ascend a spiral staircase to the banquet hall above.
Dine in a storybook setting surrounded by soaring stone archways, majestic medieval flags and spectacular stained-glass windows overlooking Fantasyland. During your time inside the castle, visit with classic Disney Princesses.
Tiaras and glittering gowns are optional, although young guests are encouraged to dress up for the occasion.
