Laissez les bons temps rouler!
Mardi Gras – Fat Tuesday – is today – February 25, 2020!
It’s celebrated at all the Disney parks, but especially at Disney World and Disneyland!*
*Shanghai Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland are still Closed Indefinitely due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus. No word on when they will be reopening.
At Disney World’s Port Orleans Resort, there is a mini-float parade consisting of themed golf carts decorated by resort cast members at 10am on Fat Tuesday.
The mini parade features music, Disney characters in Mardi Gras costumes, and free party beads and candy for guests along the parade route.
We got to eat at Sassagoula Floatworks Food Factory at Port Orleans for Mardi Gras and really liked it!
It’s a Mardi Gras celebration there every day!
House specialties include famous New Orleans-style Beignets, fresh baked goods, pizza, pasta, hamburgers, split-roasted chicken, BBQ ribs, Po’ Boys and scrumptious sandwiches.
And, Princess Tiana is at her meet and greet area all day signing autographs for guests:
The New Orleans Square of Disneyland is always decorated for Mardi Gras!
The streets of New Orleans Square are filled with jazz music and the smells of delicious cajun food.
Come Celebrate Mardi Gras and Carnevale at Disney Springs!
The end of February and into March marks the time to get together with friends and celebrate Mardi Gras. While famously celebrated on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Disney Springs is offering up its own spin on this favorite holiday complete with food and entertainment that will have you “jazzed” to celebrate!
First things first, you have to dress the part, right?
No celebration is complete without a pair of ears and these Mardi Gras-inspired Minnie Mouse ears make for the perfect party accessory! These beauties feature all the fun colors and patterns of Mardi Gras.
The House of Blues Restaurant & Bar is offering classic New Orleans favorites such as Steak Po’Boy, Jambalaya, Gumbo, and Bourbon Bread Pudding.
You can grab all of these dishes at the Smokehouse grab and go window now. In addition to delicious food, there will be live music, drink specials and prizes in the House of Blues Courtyard. With no cover or reservations required, this is a celebration you won’t want to miss!
Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday”, reflecting the practice of the last night of eating all the rich, fatty foods in the house before the ritual fasting during the 40-day Lenten season.
Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, culminates on the day before Ash Wednesday.
Don’t forget to meet Princess Tiana from Disney’s ‘Princess and the Frog’ movie!
Interested in Disney Bounding at the parks as Princess Tiana?
It’s easy to do!
We’ve written two books about our time working – and playing – as Disney Cast Members at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
