With the global outbreak of COVID-19, Disney has stopped construction on their new cruise ship destination island, Lighthouse Point.
In late 2022, Disney Cruise Line guests can look forward to a signature island experience that celebrates the spirit and culture of the Bahamas and the natural environment at a new Disney Port of Call, which is located on the breathtaking island of Eleuthera at a place called Lighthouse Point.
This new island port will give Disney cruise ships sailing in the Bahamas two ports of call: Castaway Cay and Lighthouse Point.
Disney completed the purchase of Lighthouse Point on the island of Eleuthera in 2019, and construction began in early 2020, with completion scheduled in late 2022.
The new opening date might slide into early 2023 with the current construction halt.
Disney cruisers, your “wish” has come true!
A brand-new ship is joining the Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Wish, joining Disney’s Fantasy, Wonder, and Dream cruise ships. Disney Magic will be Disney’s fifth cruise ship.
Stern characters are a tradition of the Disney fleet and the Disney Wish’s stern will feature Rapunzel from Disney’s ‘Tangled’ movie.
“Spirited, smart, curious and above all, adventurous, Rapunzel embodies the wish and desire to see and experience the world,” DCL said.
Magic will be found throughout this new ship, including the three-story atrium that will be inspired by the beauty of an enchanted fairytale.
The Disney Wish will be delivered in late 2021 and will set sail in the Caribbean beginning in January 2022.
