Disney Parks announced today that the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights won’t be happening at the Magic Kingdom this holiday season.

Instead, a series of holiday projections will cover the Cinderella Castle in the evening.

No lights dripping from the Cinderella Castle this year, just holiday projections.

Disney World’s Holiday Season will begin on November 6th and run through December 30, 2020.  This is about a week shorter than the usual Holiday Season which typically goes through the first week in January.

The Cinderella Castle Dream Lights usually stay lit through mid-January until the runDisney Marathon Weekend January 6 – 10, 2021 has ended.  We’re taking this to mean that the runDisney Marathon Weekend in January 2021 will be cancelled within the next month.

It will be pretty, but not the same.
Starting November 6th

New park hours for November 2020.  The Magic Kingdom is closing at 6pm all month.  Sunset in November in Orlando happens at 5:30pm.  So, 1/2 hour of castle projections.

A Look Back at the 2019 Cinderella Castle Dream Lights

We’ve seen the castle’s Dream Lights many, many times (especially during our year working as Disney Cast Members) and find them both beautiful and mesmerizing.  We love watching the castle change colors in the evening.  Lovely.

It’s the Holidays at the Magic Kingdom!!!

Disney decorates Cinderella Castle for the holiday season with a “Dream Lights” effect that makes the Castle look covered in ice.

Over 350,000 LED lights are draped over the turrets and roofs and down the sides of the Castle to create this beautiful effect.  It takes over 7 weeks to hang all the lights!

We’ve gotten to see the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights being turned on for the past several years.  It’s beautiful each and every time!

The Dream Lights will stay lit until after the Disney Marathon Weekend happening January 8 – 12, 2020.  The lights are so beautiful in the early morning sunlight when the runners are lining up.

5am:  Almost sunrise and the runners are lining up already for their marathon.
6am:  They’ll stay on during the beginning of the marathon runs until around 8am.  So pretty with the sun coming up in the east.

A Frozen Holiday Wish

6pm, every night now:  The start of the Frozen show –“A Frozen Holiday Wish” – where Queen Elsa lights the Castle’s Dream Lights with a sweep of her hand.

Just after dark around 6pm, the characters from ‘Frozen’ come out on the Castle Stage and do a short show called “A Frozen Holiday Wish”.  The castle lighting show stars Queen Elsa (who turns on the Dream Lights with her magical, icy powers), Princess Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf the snowman.

The Frozen show starts the evening’s celebrations, followed by the Castle’s lighting ceremony at 6:15 pm.  The Castle’s Dream Lights remain on, with the Castle slowly changing colors from pink to green to blue to purple, for the rest of the evening until one hour after park closing.

I could watch them change colors all night.  This is one of my favorite shades, blue into purple.  Just dazzling!  I probably have over 500+ photos of the Dream Lights that I’ve taken over the years!!!

The four side turrets house the state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems for all the different shows put on every day.
