From the Disney College Alumni Blog:
We are thrilled to share that the Disney College Program will return at Walt Disney World Resort this June! In fact, recruitment for 2021 opportunities will resume today, May 3rd, and we know you will be ecstatic to hear this news.
Along with much of the world, we’re encouraged by progress made possible by rising vaccination rates and recently revised guidance around health and safety measures. And while we’re seeing some additional positive signs, we still have a ways to go to a full recovery. This summer we are opening more Disney hotels, sports and convention groups are returning, theme park hours are extending and we are reintroducing some our Guest-favorite offerings.
As our industry and community continue to bounce back, we have welcomed back thousands of Cast Members to work and have also restarted our recruitment efforts amid a tight labor market at Walt Disney World. Both of these measures are important indicators toward fully reopening our businesses and getting more people back to work.
Right now, we have many roles to fill and are now ready to take the next step to welcome back students. We are inviting participants whose program ended early or was suspended in 2020, to reapply and join us.
We have also been thinking of other college and university students who may be eagerly awaiting their own Disney College Program experience. The good news is that there is much to come in the future of the program, and we can’t wait to share more information with you when that time comes.
We want you to know that we’re relaunching the Program in a thoughtful and responsible way, with the safety of our participants and our working Cast always at the forefront of our planning, particularly as we consider a new approach to housing.
Our stunning, new housing complex – Flamingo Crossings Village – will officially become the home to our 2021 participants. Flamingo Crossings is an incredible, state-of-the-art complex. For more on our new housing community, click here, and view a quick video sneak peek here.
Similar to what we’ve done to help reduce risk in our theme parks and resorts, we are also putting in place a combination of measures for our participants. Participants will receive pre-arrival communication regarding our enhanced safety measures, including updates that promote physical distancing, required face coverings in all common areas and a new contactless, curbside move-in experience. Like many colleges and universities, we’re also modifying the occupancy of our units, giving fully vaccinated participants the opportunity to live with other fully vaccinated participants in the same apartment.
Below, you’ll find more vital information pertaining to our relaunch plans:
We will be sending targeted communication to impacted students who either had their 2020 program suspended or canceled. Click here for more on this offer.
We hope to open an application for additional program opportunities on DisneyPrograms.com at a later date.
Recruitment is resuming specifically for the Disney College Program at the Walt Disney World© Resort. At this time, Disney International Programs, Culinary Program and Disneyland© Resort College Program will also remain paused until further notice.
We have expanded our recent graduate policy. Until otherwise noted, students who have graduated within the last 24 months are eligible to apply.
Throughout the year, we have had the opportunity to evaluate all our processes, which has resulted in updates we feel will elevate the Disney College Program to a new level. More details will be shared throughout the week – visit the Disney Programs Blog for additional information. Of course, we’ll also be sharing more news and information throughout the week on DisneyAlumni.com.
