8 Great Reasons You Should Work at Disneyland!

Sleeping Beauty Castle

The DCP program at Disney World gets all the attention with it’s 7,000+ program participants every year.

It’s much harder to get accepted into the Disneyland DCP program because there are far fewer internships available!

The DCP program at Disneyland is way smaller, with less than 1,000 participants a year.

But, that doesn’t mean that it’s not just as FUN!  (Some CPs who have done programs at both WDW and DLR say that the California program is more fun!)

Here’s some reasons to apply for the Disneyland DCP program:

1. It’s Where the Magic All Began!

Whether or not you’re an over-the-top fan of Walt Disney himself, you have to admit it’s pretty cool to walk in Walt’s footsteps on Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland Park in California. Imagine taking that one step further and being a part of the magic in one of our many roles!

2. It’s the 60th Anniversary Celebration Year!

We’re celebrating the 60th anniversary of the opening of Disneyland with special events planned all year, through September 2016!  Come see the Sleeping Beauty Castle dazzle in the sunlight!

3. Experience Disney History

Want to join us for a tour of legendary buildings and sound studios at Walt Disney Studios? How about touring Walt’s apartment on Main Street U.S.A.? Or the Dream Suite above New Orleans Square?

We thought these might get your attention as our participants love Disney history as much as we do. If Disney history is your passion, then California is your ticket!

Laguna_Beach (2)

Laguna Beach is only 25 miles away!  In the winter months, you can see whales swim on by!

4. You’ve Never Seen the Pacific Ocean

California is home to some of the country’s most beautiful coast line as well as diverse climate. Too hot and humid? What’s that, Florida? Not here in balmy California!

beach (2)

Some of the best beaches in the world, i.e. Laguna Beach, are only an hour away!

Or how about some beach and baseball? If you’re a sports fan, Anaheim is home to the Anaheim Angels baseball team and going to games is a favorite outing for many program participants.

5. Live, Earn, and Learn

DLR participants earn more per hour than Florida CPs.  In the DLR program, CPs must sign up for a free education course at Disney University during their program.  Our guest lecture series is very popular.

Education courses are a great way to get to know many Disney leaders from a variety of places, including Walt Disney Studios, Pixar and other teams from Southern California. If you are interested in a career with Disney, make sure to network while you’re here.

6. We Have Nice DCP Apartments Too!

We only need one apartment building, Carnegie Plaza, to house all the Disneyland CPs needing housing (about 250 per semester) and it’s really nice!

7. Hollywood, Baby!

The Housing team is always creating fun events and they want participants to come along! Jump on a double-decker bus with us and tour celebrity homes or walk along the stars on Hollywood Blvd. There’s also the chance to catch a movie at the El Capitan Theater – a famous landmark still in operation today.

Scenes from ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ with Tom Hanks were filmed right here on Main Street USA.  The Disney Parks Christmas Parade is filmed onsite every November.

8. Disney is a Fortune 100 Company

Successfully completing a program is a great resume enhancer. Participants are asked about their Disney working experience from future employers. And if you are looking to have a career with Disney, it’s a great way to get your foot in the door.

Two Girls and a Mouse Tale

by Elly Collins & Caroline Collins

Ever wonder what it’s like to work for Disney???

We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program (Fall 2013/Spring 2014) and have written a book about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.

We’ve included advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney. Available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.
