Elly’s Final DCP Schedule

Elly’s Final DCP Schedule

My last two weeks working as a CP at DTD were a lot of work. I tried to put in for time off because my parents were coming and we were moving out of our apartment, but Disney Scheduling denied it. I worked 7 of my last 9 days!

Way more days than I wanted to work!!!

I was scheduled for a mix of working Tren-D merchandise at DTD, and also as a Zone 1 Coordinator at DTD.

The Spring 2014 DCP program officially ended on May 9th and thankfully Scheduling didn’t schedule me all the way through until then. I worked with another CP who also had been there for a year. She had a plane ticket to fly home but couldn’t get out of her last night of work, so she got “restricted rehire” status for not working her last 6 hour shift…after being there a year! 😦

But, I did get a chance to say goodbye to all my friends and coworkers. It was a fun year.

We’ve written a book about our year working at Disney World in the Disney College Program: Two Girls and a Mouse Tale. It’s filled with advice about the DCP program and how to get the most out of your internship.
We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program (Fall 2013/Spring 2014) and wrote about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney. We give advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship at Disney, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney.

Happy anniversary, Tren-D!

My favorite store to work at in Downtown Disney, Tren-D, turns 5 this month and the managers celebrated its success with a party. All the cast members got to sign a gigantic celebration card, and there was cake. 🙂

Working Together at Tren-D

Working Together at Tren-D

Caroline picked up an extra shift to work with me for the first time in our internship program.

We had a great time working together at Tren-D in Downtown Disney last night. She blended in seamlessly, and everyone was asking us if we were twins the whole night. Must be the “Boulder, CO” on our name tags. lol! 🙂

Elly’s New Nametag: My Precious!

My secret identity: Alice!

My secret work identity: Alice!

After my first week of working, I turned in some of my old ones to be cleaned and checked out two new ones. But, I didn’t check the front of my red blouse and I accidentally turned in my shirt with my nametag still attached.

Apparently, it’s impossible to find and return it, since I called laundry and all these other places and no one had seen it. 😦

Last week, I was driving Caroline to costuming at Animal Kingdom and they have a little place where you can order a new one, so nice!

So I did, and they said it’d take 7-10 days to replace and $5 would come out of my next paycheck. (By the way, it took less than 10 minutes to make originally during our orientation day.) I was able to put whatever I wanted on it so, unlike my first one that said, “Elly Colorado State University”, the new one will say: Elly Boulder, CO. I will like that much better.

In the meanwhile, I still have to wear a nametag at work, and the managers give you a “loaner” one. The only options are ‘Chris’ for boys and ‘Alice’ for girls. So, I’ve been “Alice” at work for the past 2+ weeks.

It isn’t so bad, but it really confuses people when they’re doing a rotation or bumping me out for my break, they’re like, where’s this girl “Ariel” on the schedule, I can’t find her anywhere!

And, I’m like, ‘oh that’s me!’ It’s like having a secret identity! 😉

Elly’s New Nametag: My Precious!

My new name tag has finally come in! 🙂

And a month later, I got my language tag!
