The Wilderness Explorer Camp at Disney California Adventure

It’s like a mini Sequoia National Park.  The Rangers here always have good pins to trade!

The Wilderness Explorer Camp at Redwood Creek is one of our favorite places at Disney California Adventure.

It’s across from Grizzly Peak.

up3It seems very “California” with lots of trees and trails.  It’s definitely Ian’s favorite place to explore!

Hit the Trail

Encounter the Great Outdoors along the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Explore the area in any order you wish and enjoy a “forest” range of activities for everyone.

Practice the art of traverse climbing at the Cliff Hanger Traverse Rock Climb. Glide down a natural rock slide. Clamber up the ropes course to the lookout towers high above the tree line. Practice your park ranger skills on the tire swing at Sequoia Smokejumpers Training Tower.

There’s a world of woodsy fun waiting to be discovered!

Meet Your Spirit Animal

Hidden in the rocks, the Spirit Cave awaits—where brave adventurers encounter their mystical spirit animal. What will the enchanted cave reveal about you? Are you a bear, a wolf or even… a skunk?

Visit the Spirit Cave and find out!

Big Adventures for Kids of All Sizes

The experiences of Redwood Creek Challenge Trail have no height or age requirements except:

Cliff Hanger Traverse Rock Climb – Guests must be 42 inches (106 cm) or taller.

Elly and I at the Wilderness Explorers CP Welcome Event

Elly and I have only had one day off each week since before Christmas!  Luckily, we had today off together because it was the first Welcome Event for the new CPs!  It was the Wilderness Explorers Event, themed after the movie ‘Up’!

We made it a pact to get there right when it began (4-7pm)!  If you know anything about us, you’d know how hard it is to motivate Elly to move quickly. lol.  But, we managed to roll into Chatham at exactly 3:59pm!  And, there was no one there yet!!!!

Meeting Mr. Fredrickson and Russel from the movie Up! ahhh!!!

Meeting Mr. Fredrickson and Russel from the movie Up! ahhh!!!

We walked straight into the room to meet Mr. Fredrickson and Russel!!!! OMG, I was so excited! I wanted to meet Mr. Fredrickson so badly!!  You can meet Dug and Russel at Animal Kingdom, and I actually share a break room with them, so I see them all the time.  (Not that I still don’t get excited when Dug walks by me and gives my face a big wet kiss)  But, seeing Mr. Fredrickson was so cool!!!!

Elly and I at the Wilderness Explore CP Welcome EventAfter that, we got right in line for some pizza!  We stayed for some dancing because I can’t turn down a chance at the Cupid’s Shuffle.  And, I also won a DCP water bottle!  There was a picture scavenger hunt to take a picture with Russel, Dug, or Mr. Fredrickson, the Welcome Event sign, the DJ, a slice of pizza, an out of state license, and a human pyramid.  The first 10 people got one! Yay!!!

This was definitely the best event I have been to thus far in the program!

🙂
