Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors is a special exhibit from the George W. Bush Institute that debuted June 9, 2024 at Epcot’s American Adventure Pavilion.

It will be on exhibit until June 2025.

The American Heritage Gallery

Reflecting President Bush’s personal commitment to military veterans and ongoing work of the Bush Institute’s Veteran and Military Families Program, this extraordinary art exhibit brings together more than 60 vibrant oil paintings by President Bush of service members and veterans who have served in military uniform with honor since 9/11 and whom the President has come to know personally since leaving office.

“Celebrating those who give so much to our country has been part of the fabric of The Walt Disney Company throughout our 100-year history,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences. “We’re grateful to the Bush Institute for allowing us to feature this special collection and share it with our guests.”

An American Tribute

Located in the American Adventure’s National Heritage Gallery, Portraits of Courage: A Commander’s Tribute to America’s Warriors features over 60 paintings from President Bush.

The American Adventure pavilion is now proudly presenting Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors, a special exhibit by former President George W. Bush.

The new exhibit on display, free.

The art includes images of “service members and veterans who have served our nation with honor since 9/11, and whom the President has come to know personally since leaving office.”

George W. Bush’s paintings have previously been on display at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and at the Nixon Presidential Library in California.

Each portrait is accompanied by a short description listing the veteran’s name, years of service, and rank.

The exhibit has taken some criticism for not including any Black servicemen.

In addition to the art, each piece includes a short story written by Mr. Bush about the veteran shown in the artwork.

The exhibit will also highlight resources to support those serving in the military since Sept. 11, 2001.

The portrait collection will be on display for a year.
