Hiking to Waimea Falls in Waimea Valley, Oahu

Waimea Falls. You can swim here, the water’s 30 feet deep.

We had a lovely hike to the Waimea Falls yesterday.

Waimea Falls Park is beautiful and very scenic.  A true slice of Hawaii.  Very green with lots of vegetation.

The 45-foot falls. After a rainstorm, the water pours over the falls.

We didn’t bring our bathing suits for swimming, but it was closed for swimming because of the recent rain.  Very few people were at the falls.

We didn’t go swimming because it was closed that day as the Falls were flowing too rapidly from a recent rain storm. There were No Swimming Today signs posted at the visitor center.

It was pretty empty up at the Falls, probably because it was a no swimming day.
Life jackets are required to swim near the Falls and you can rent them at the Outpost. There are changing stalls there, but no restrooms.

Roundtrip, the hike is 3.5 miles.  There’s a lot to see along the way, with tons of Hawaiian and other botanical plants, all in bloom.

Rating:  4 1/2 Stars.

POG juice flavored Hawaiian shaved ice after the hike! Yum!!!!  🙂

Waimea Falls Park is ranked amongst some of the best Oahu hikes.  This pleasurable, one mile stroll through lush botanical gardens leads up to the grand 30-foot Waimea Falls waterfall.

You might feel like you have stepped into the movie set for Jurassic Park, as you are surrounded by oversized tropical plants and unique botanical gardens along the hike.

I love this plant!

Still known as Waimea Falls Park, this Oahu waterfall and tropical grounds are now run by the stewards of Waimea Valley Hi’ipaka.  Waimea Valley Botanical Gardens preserves Hawaiian culture and community.

Ever wonder what it’s like to work for Disney???

We worked at WDW for a year in the Disney College Program and have written a book about what it’s like to be a cast member working for Disney.

We’ve included advice on how to successfully get into the DCP program, including some of the actual phone interview questions, how to have a successful internship, and how not self-term before your program ends. Our book is filled with lots of behind-the-scene stories of the magic of Disney.

Available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle formats. Published by Theme Park Press.

  1. I am enjoying your Hawaii trip blogs – we visited Oahu in April, and stayed at Aulani for part of the time. We did many of the same activities – it’s fun to relive the experiences!
